Anything Goes is a Cole Porter song written for his 1934 Broadway musical of the same name. The lyrics poke fun at high-society scandal during the Great Depression and open with a playful reference to Plymouth Rock. The original popular recording was by Paul Whiteman and his Orchestra with Ramona Davies on vocals, released in 1934. Over the years it has become a jazz standard and show tune, covered by many artists and appearing on albums such as Frank Sinatra's Songs for Swingin' Lovers! (1956) and Ella Fitzgerald's Cole Porter Songbook (1956). It has also appeared in film and games, including a Mandarin-tinged version in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) and in Fallout game soundtracks. A notable later pairing is Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga on the 2014 album Cheek to Cheek.
