Let's Do It, Let's Fall in Love is a 1928 jazz show tune written by Cole Porter for his Broadway musical Paris. It was introduced by Irène Bordoni, marking Porter’s first Broadway success. The song is famous for its clever list-style lyrics full of double entendres that catalog human groups, birds, marine life and more before the cheeky chorus, Let’s do it. It appeared in Wake Up and Dream (1929), was used as the title theme in the 1933 film Grand Slam, and was later included in the Can-Can film (1960). The original 1928 lyrics included racial references that were later revised in broadcasts. The tune has been performed and recorded many times by artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Eartha Kitt, and even a punk version by Joan Jett and Paul Westerberg for the Tank Girl movie; in 2024 the song entered the public domain in the United States.
