My Lucky Star is a 1929 Broadway show tune from the musical Follow Thru, with music by Ray Henderson and lyrics by Buddy DeSylva and Lew Brown. It is a bright, jazzy number about a lucky romance set in a country club scene. The original stage performance was by Jack Barker on January 9, 1929. In 1929 it was also recorded by Paul Whiteman and His Orchestra and by Jack Hylton and His Orchestra, helping to popularize the song, with Waring's Pennsylvanians also issuing a version that year. The sheet music appeared in 1928, and later editions included ukulele arrangements. The tune is a classic example of a late 1920s Broadway show tune that became a staple of the American popular-song repertoire.
