Angel Eyes is a popular song and jazz standard with music by Matt Dennis and lyrics by Earl K. Brent, dating from 1946. It was introduced in the 1953 film Jennifer, in which Matt Dennis sings it and accompanies himself on piano while Ida Lupino and Howard Duff, among others, dance to it. The first release was a single in 1947 by Herb Jeffries with Buddy Baker and His Orchestra.
The song has inspired many interpretations and is part of the jazz standard repertoire. Notable singers include Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, June Christy with Stan Kenton, Chet Baker and Shirley Bassey. Ella Fitzgerald recorded the song more than once and named it her favorite song.
