"Blue Bossa" is an instrumental jazz composition written by the trumpeter Kenny Dorham, who is its sole composer; it has no lyrics. It was first recorded by the saxophonist Joe Henderson on his debut Blue Note album, Page One (1963). The piece blends hard bop with bossa nova, and it may have been influenced by Dorham's visit to the Rio de Janeiro Jazz Festival in 1961. The score is in C minor and 4/4, marked "Med. Up. Bossa". It has become a jazz standard, is included in the Real Book, and has been recorded many times. Later versions include those by McCoy Tyner, Michel Camilo, Art Farmer, and Joe Pass with J.J. Johnson.
