Mimosa is an instrumental jazz composition written by George Benson, who is credited as its sole composer. Because it has no lyrics, every version of the piece is purely instrumental. The original recording dates from 1982, when Jimmy Smith recorded it with George Benson, Ron Carter, Grady Tate and Stanley Turrentine for the album Off the Top. The track is classed in the soul-jazz and contemporary jazz styles. A 1987 guitar duet by George Benson and Earl Klugh is a well-known later version. Other versions have been recorded by several groups, among them the Ronnie Cuber Quintet (1996), Max Schultz and Erik Söderlind (2009) and the Mike Reinhardt Trio (2011).
