Porto Cabello is an instrumental gypsy jazz composition written by Django Reinhardt, who is credited as its sole writer. It has no lyrics, so its identity rests on the melody and on how each group interprets it. The original recording was made on 21 May 1947 by Django Reinhardt et son Quintette du Hot Club de France, and it was first released as a single.
Later versions include recordings by Babik Reinhardt, Hot Club de Norvège, Romane, Angelo Debarre Quartet and Pearl Django. The tune remains a recurring item in the Hot Club-style gypsy jazz repertoire, where it is played by ensembles working in that tradition. Its return among later groups shows that it has stayed near the core of that repertoire.
