Green Chimneys is an instrumental jazz composition by Thelonious Monk, who is its sole credited writer. As a piece without lyrics, it rests entirely on its melody and harmony, and it is classed in the bop style. Many other jazz musicians have recorded it since.
The earliest known performance is a trio recording by Monk from December 1967. The tune was first released in May 1968 on the Columbia album Underground.
