Twilight in Turkey is an instrumental swing tune with no lyrics, written by Raymond Scott and played in the key of C. The Raymond Scott Quintette recorded it on 20 February 1937, and it was released that year as the B-side of the 78 rpm single "Minuet in Jazz" on Master Records (catalogue number MA 108, 10-inch shellac). Because there are no words, the performance rests entirely on the melody and the arrangement, and the tune is classed as jazz and swing.
Early recordings followed in 1937 by Tommy Dorsey and His Clambake Seven (April), Red Nichols and His Orchestra, and Ambrose and His Orchestra. Later covers include versions by Jack Parnell, David Carroll and The Beau Hunks Sextette.
