"Jóga" is an electronica song by Björk, written by Björk and Sjón, who also wrote the lyrics. It was recorded for Homogenic (1997), Björk's third studio album, and fuses electronica with baroque and classical styles. It is partly inspired by Icelandic music and has volcanic beats. Björk and Mark Bell produced it at El Cortijo in Málaga, Spain. Björk wrote the string arrangements, which were supplied late in the process by the Icelandic String Octet. Released as the album's lead single on 15 September 1997, the song received critical acclaim for Björk's vocal performance, composition and production, and some modern critics have described it as proto dubstep. It reached number one on the Íslenski Listinn Top 40 in October 1997, and it reached the top 20 in Finland and the top 40 in Sweden. It was ineligible for the UK Singles Chart because of the three-format limit and entered at number 191 in February 1998. Michel Gondry directed the music video, which was filmed in Iceland. Remixes were made by Howie B, Alec Empire and Buzz Water. The song is listed in the key of G#.
