Bluehawk is an instrumental blues in B-flat composed by Thelonious Monk, who is its sole credited writer. Monk wrote the tune after a visit from the musician Guy Warren in 1958, and its melody is borrowed from Warren's "The Talking Drum Looks Ahead", from the album Themes for African Drums. The title is a tribute to Monk's friend Coleman Hawkins and to the Black Hawk club in San Francisco.
Monk first recorded the piece on October 21, 1959, at Fugazi Hall in San Francisco, for the solo piano album Thelonious Alone in San Francisco, produced by Orrin Keepnews for Riverside. The album presents it as an improvised blues that appears only in this recording, and it occupies side two with a running time of 3:37. Later versions include one by Gregory Lewis from 2017 and one by the Armaroli - Schiaffini 4tet from 2022.
