"Seven Days" is a song written solely by the English singer-songwriter Sting. It was released on 12 April 1993 by A&M Records as the second single from the album Ten Summoner's Tales (1993), co-produced by Sting and Hugh Padgham, with "January Stars" as its B-side. The single reached No. 25 on the UK Singles Chart and No. 3 on UK Airplay, and it also charted at 18 in Italy and 64 on the Eurochart Hot 100. The original recording features Sting with Dominic Miller, David Sancious and Vinnie Colaiuta, who played drums.
The song is noted for its quintuple (5/8) meter, recorded at 184 BPM over a reggae-inspired beat. The verse chords are built on ninth extensions within C minor pentatonic, and the chorus uses a chromatically ascending progression to the tonic C. The coda quotes The Police's "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" and "O My God". Sting said it was the first song he wrote in quintuple meter and that its chord changes are akin to a Broadway show. Rolling Stone read it as a David and Goliath story, and Entertainment Weekly praised its courtship drama. Many covers exist, including versions by Vanessa Rubin, Chris Botti featuring Sting, and The Tierney Sutton Band.
