Cheese Cake is an instrumental jazz tune composed by the American tenor saxophonist Dexter Gordon. Gordon recorded it in 1962, and the performance was released that year on the Blue Note album Go!, where it opens side A.
A later live recording of the tune is the title track of the album Cheese Cake (Dexter In Radioland Vol. 2). It was recorded on June 11, 1964 at the Jazzhus Montmartre in Copenhagen by Danmarks Radio, with the Dexter Gordon Quartet, and released by SteepleChase in 1979. The track runs about 14 minutes on that album. Reviewing the album, Scott Yanow of AllMusic praised Gordon's long solos, and Arthur Moorhead of DownBeat gave it 4.5 out of 5, writing that Gordon plays with searing intensity, especially on the title track. Many other artists have recorded the tune since.
